Opening Day festivities include SmARTroom’s 5th annual Costume Parade which kicks off at 10:30 a.m. The parade will leave from the Market, head downtown to Memorial Park, and then return to the Market. Participants should assemble after 10 a.m. and those without costumes can visit the superhero costume-making station at the Kids’ Activity tent from 9 – 10 a.m. to create a costume. Marchers are encouraged to bring kazoos, drums, and any other instrument that will make for a noisy march through downtown Maynard. Also as part of the opening-day celebration, Market-favorite Sugarcoma will be performing their retro-tinged, indie pop-rock at the Serendipity Cafe Music Tent starting at 10:30 a.m. Artisans are Jennifer’s Handmade Soap and Brookfield Candle Company, Deb Hledik of Explore Pathways To Wellness offers massage, and Assabet River Rail Trail volunteers are at the Community Table. And then of course there’s the food and plants. Opening day vendors: Applefield Farm, The Bake Shoppe, Balance Rock Farm, Brigham Farm Stand & Greenhouse, The Compulsive Baker, Cookie Lady Treats, Giacomo’s Gourmet Granola LLC (new!), Joni’s Cannolis, and Muddy Water Coffee Roasters. Burro’s Tail Farm succulent arrangements attends for their only time this season.
